This was a cool one. I mean, to be fair, I see my share of weddings and they are all very special, but this one I will be thinking about for a while. Harleigh and Marshall tied the knot in historic Smithville in October. The day was overcast and it rained whenever it felt like it, just enough to make things interesting for a wedding photogrpaher, lol. Now, one of the things that made this memorable for me is that although I am familiar with Smithville and the Smithville Inn, I have never been to this little town during Oktoberfest! Yep, this wedding and the famous beer festival were the same time on the same day in the same tiny town! Smithville’s population inflates and hundreds of local beer lovers roam the cobblestone streets! So, lets just say the whole scene was jumpin’, and we made a few new friends during our outside portraits! It was so great. And the bride was so laid back about it all, it made the time so fun and I loved it. Harleigh was an beautiful and emotional bride which made some really authentic moments for me to capture. She and her mom and sister are a tight unit. Mom raised the girls on her own, and she is one proud mama. Rightfully so, they are so amazing girls. Mom shared with me that every year on New Year’s Day when the girls were little, mom would bundle them up, and drive to see the Mummer’s Parade in the city. The girls loved it and so it became a tradition that lasted into their adulthood. The Mummers! So on the sly, mom hired a few Mummers to the wedding for a fantastic surprise. The bride was SO EXCITED! I was too! I mean, who doesn’t love a little string band and some sequins! What a day! So happy for Harleigh and Marshall. All the best to you guys <3.
