The rainbow baby. If you have not encountered the rainbow baby movement I would love to tell you about it. A rainbow baby is a baby born shortly after the loss of a previous baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or death in infancy. This term is given to these special rainbow babies because a rainbow typically follows a storm, giving us hope of what’s to come. It is equally heartbreaking as it is beautiful, and I cannot write about it with enough sensitivity. The first photo here is Trey and his big sister Olivia.
We had our FYJ together 2 years ago, and that is when I met the wonderful Jackie and Irv. We do a whole lot of laughing, me and this couple. Trey’s birth brought this family so much joy. Trey’s name is actually Irving, just like his dad, and his grandfather too, making him the third of his name. But for now, they just call him Trey. As you can see, Trey was born into a stronghold of Star Wars fans. So although we knew this had to be a rainbow session, we HAD to get the pic with the plushies and the light saber. I mean, what kind of fan are you if you can’t do that?!?
I have to give some credit here for the amazing rainbow jumper from Cora & Violet, and the wraps from Dolly Priss. Without them my shoot would have been incomplete. I want to point out why I love the last photo in this series so much. Take a look at it. Right there, you see that? That family is so happy. They are blessed and have joy and that little baby is smiling in his family’s arms.
There is hope. “Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.” Mamas -hang on to that quote, and hang on to your hope. All my love to you.
